Why we offer ear micro-suction instead of ear irrigation?

We are sometimes asked why we offer micro-suction instead of irrigation for the removal of ear wax and here are the reasons:

Ear micro-suction offers several advantages over traditional ear irrigation. Firstly, it is a much safer and gentler procedure. By using a gentle suction device, ear micro-suction can remove wax without the risk of introducing water or other substances into the ear canal, which can lead to infection or irritation. Additionally, micro-suction provides a more precise and controlled removal of wax, allowing for a thorough cleaning without damaging the delicate structures of the ear. Our state of the art equipment allows us a real time view inside the ear canal so that we can offer the safest and most effective treatment possible.  This is particularly beneficial for individuals with sensitive ears or a history of ear problems.

Secondly, micro-suction is often more effective at removing stubborn or impacted earwax. The suction device can gently dislodge and extract wax, often without the need for pre-softening agents or multiple treatments. We find however that pre treatment with oil is beneficial and can aid in stubborn wax removal in a single session.  This is especially helpful for individuals with excessive wax buildup or those who have tried home remedies without success.

Finally, micro-suction is a quicker and more convenient procedure compared to ear irrigation. The process typically takes only a few minutes to complete, with minimal pre-treatment and no necessary post-treatment care. This makes micro-suction a more practical option for individuals with busy schedules or those who prefer a less time-consuming approach to ear wax removal.
